Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Doug Jones released the following statement after voting to end debate on a short-term government funding bill. Sixty votes were needed to advance the bill to a final vote in the Senate. The vote tally was 50-49.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-Ala.) today announced United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) grants totaling $1,105,247 to support distance learning and telemedicine in Alabama. The USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) program helps rural communities leverage technology to expand access to job training, educational, and health care opportunities.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Doug Jones released the following statement today after the passing of State Representative George Bandy:

“Louise and I are praying for the family and friends of long-time State Representative George Bandy, who passed away this morning. We are grateful for the legacy he built as he served the communities of Lee and Russell, and our state, with honor and integrity for more than 20 years.”

The Keep Kids' Insurance Dependable and Secure (KIDS) Act will reauthorize and fund CHIP through FY 2022

New plant expected to create 4,000 new jobs, begin operations in 2021

Washington D.C. – Automakers Toyota and Mazda today announced they will invest $1.4 billion dollars to create a new manufacturing plant in Huntsville. The new plant, which is expected to be operational in 2021, will create 4,000 jobs.

Washington D.C. – It was announced today that Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) has been appointed to the following four Senate Committees: the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP); the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and, the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging.  

Washington D.C. – Senator Doug Jones today was sworn-in as the Junior Senator from Alabama on the floor of the Senate in the United States Capitol.
